Chassis:
Finished in metallic blue with a black leather interior, this 275 GTB was sold new to movie director Roger Vadim and his actress wife Jane Fonda. It was sold to the pair through Franco-Britannic Autos in Paris. They kept the 275 GTB for two-and-a-half years when it was traded back to Franco-Britannic Autos and sold on to an enthusiast from Lyon. It was regularly exercised by the owner and was also driven on the Mas du Clos track by 1968 Olympic ski champion Jean-Claude Killy. By this time, it had been painted red. During the subsequent years it only changed a handful of times and remained in French ownership. It entered a long-term custodianship in the early 2000s. It was first painted yellow and then comprehensively restored to its original configuration during the second half of the 2010s. The ex-Roger Vadim 275 GTB was then consigned to the 2021 RM Sotheby's Milan sale where it was the top lot sold, exceeding the estimate at €2.5 million.
