Chassis:
Built in 1958, this 300 SL Roadster was presented to five-time World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio by Mercedes-Benz as a retirement gift. In addition to being a talented racing driver, Fangio was also the Mercedes-Benz distributor in Buenos Aires. The car was delivered to Fangio in Italy in time for his 47th birthday. When he returned to South America, Fangio brought the 300 SL Roadster with him. Once in Argentina, the car was used extensively on the road, accruing over 70,000 km. In 1986, the car was retired to the Juan Manual Fangio Museum. Still in highly original condition, it was displayed for 35 years until it was entrusted to RM Sotheby's for a unique auction. Running from March 21 - 25, 2022, it is a concealed bid sale and the final price will not be published.
