Chassis:
One of the very last naturally aspirated Type 37s completed, this example was finished in June of 1929. It was sold new through Bugatti dealer and coach-builder André Mathon. The first private owner was Pierre Marsolan, who resided in the Lille area and owned several other Bugattis. In 1931, it was acquired by Gérard Victor Herbaux, who raced the car in select events with some success. The car changed several times during the next decade and then in 1959 was bought by Georges Rapailde from Belgium. The car would remain in the same family ownership for the next 63 years. Retaining its original engine, it was restored during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Offered for the first time in over six decades, this late Type 37 was consigned to the 2022 Bonhams Les Grandes Marques à Monaco sale.
