Chassis:
Completed in August of 1953, this is the very last regular production C-Type. Through Frank Carvey & Sons, it was delivered new to Joe Kelly from Dublin. The only C-Type sold to Ireland, XKC 050 was then raced at the Tourist Trophy round of the World Championship with Jack Fairman sharing the driving duties. The car finished seventh overall and second in class. During the following two seasons, the car was raced with considerable success both by and for Kelly. In 1955, Kelly was rear-ended by an XK120 and although he was not seriously injured, he retired from racing. The C-Type suffered mainly bodywork damage and was duly repaired. It changed hands several times during the following years and made regular appearances at a variety of events. During the early 1980s, it was sold to the United states. Between 1984 and 2012, it remained in single ownership and was entered at many major events. Sold at the Gooding Pebble Beach auction in 2012, the subsequent owner has continued the tradition of this well exercised C-Type.
