Chassis:
Finished in Silver Gray Metallic with a red leather interior, this is the 14th of just 29 300 SLs equipped with a lightweight, alloy body. Among its subsequent owners of this 300 SL was Hans Kleissl of specialist company HK Engineering. In 2017, it was submitted to a restoration at the hands of Gullwing expert Robert Platz. Retaining its matching number engine, original alloy body and Karl Baisch luggage set, and presented in bumperless configuration, it was consigned as one of the early headliners for the 2022 RM Sotheby's Monterey sale.
