Chassis:
In addition to the competition cars, Alfa Corse also produced a handful of road-going Tipo 256s. This is one of three fitted with a Touring Berlinetta style bodywork. It is understood to be the first built and as such can be considered the first road car produced by Enzo Ferrari. After the War, it was exported to the United States by Air Force officer. He later left it with his mechanic as payment for earlier repairs. At this point it was fitted with additional bumpers and headlights to comply with the latest American road regulations. In the early 2000s, it was completely restored to its original configuration. Once the work was completed, it was shown at the 2002 Louis Vuitton Bagatelle Concours d’Elegance where it won Best of Show. It has since joined the Lopresto Collection and was shown at the 2022 Chantilly Arts & Elegance.
