Chassis:
Stabilimenti Farina built three Cabriolet bodies for the 166 Inter chassis and each were finished to the individual wishes of the customers. Completed in the fall of 1949, it was commissioned by Dr. Enrico Wax, who would become one of Ferrari's premier customers. It was road registered in March of 1950 and retained by Wax for just over a year. Chassis 033S was sold on to fellow Roman Patrizio Agostini. It remained in Italy and was eventually placed in a yard in Northern Italy. Here it was found by Switzerland based, Italian shoe maker Rino Botteon in the late 1960s. He kept the car in storage until his death in 2004. In complete but derelict condition, it was acquired by Swiss collector Heinrich Kämpfer, who is a known authority on early coachbuilt Ferraris. Between 2014 and 2018, he meticulous restored the 166 Inter to its original configuration. Once fully restored, it was Ferrari Classiche certified but never shown. In 2022, Kämpfer consigned the car to the Bonhams Quail Lodge auction.
