Chassis:
Completed in March of 1957, this early 507 Roadster was sold new to an unknown enthusiast from Switzerland. It was equipped with a factory hard-top and Rudge wheels. Between 1963 and 2009, it was in the ownership of a Mr Pichler from Zürich. It was restored over a two year period before it was sold to fellow Swiss enthusiast and dealer Lukas Hüni. He considered the car over-restored and had the car re-painted. Fortunately, the original interior had been left untouched. In 2013, it was shown at the Pebble Beach where it placed third in class. It changed hands several times since, with BMW Classic among the owners. Fitted with a BMW 503 based engine and accompanied by an original 507 engine block, chassis 70019 was consigned to the 2022 Bonhams Zoute Sale. Topping the auction, it sold for a startling €2,093,000 including the premium.
