Chassis:
Completed in June of 1951, this Ferrari 340 America was immediately entered for the first owner Eddie Hall and Juan Carlos Navarone in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They were the fastest of all 340 Ferraris but a starter motor prompted a retirement in the 17th hour from fourth overall. Hall then shared the Touring Barchetta at the Dundrod Tourist Trophy with Mike Hawthorn but they were forced to retired after an accident. It was then sold to an American enthusiast, who entered the car in the 1953 Sebring 12 Hours. Engine issues meant he could not start the race. The following year Jack Rutherford used 0120A to win the Daytona Speed Week for the owner William Spear. The car remained in the United States until it was acquired by Dutch enthusiast Bart Rosman. The avid collector and historic submitted the car to a lengthy restoration but it was not shown before his passing in 2021. From his estate, the now fully restored 340 America was consigned to the 2023 Artcurial Retromobile sale.
