Chassis:
The 36th 500 Superfast built, this Series 2 example was sold new through North American distributor Luigi Chinetti. Finished in silver with a black leather interior, chassis 8817SF found its first private owner in John R. Winter from Napoleon, Ohio. The car was cherished but used only sparingly by its subsequent owners that included noted collectors like John Mozart and Emilio Gnutti. Although it was painted red at some, the 500 Superfast survived in remarkably original condition. Re-finished in the original and with just 14,269 miles on the odometer, it was consigned by its longterm owner to the 2023 Bonhams Amelia Island auction where it topped the sale when it found a new custodian for $1.9 million.
