Chassis:
One of twelve 250 MMs entrusted to Vignale for Spider bodywork, chassis 0274MM was completed in February of 1953. Its first owner was Piero Scotti, who immediately entered it in the 1953 Mille Miglia. Sadly, he failed to reach the finish and later also suffered a similar fate in the Targa Florio. Scotti did score two outright wins in a local hill climbs later in the year. Following a brief spell in the ownership of Porfirio Rubirosa, the 250 MM was sold to Francisco ‘Chico’ Landi. He successfully campaigned the car during the winter months in Brazil and then back in Italy during the summer of 1954. Landi sold the Ferrari on in 1955 and it was raced by subsequent owners into the 1957 season. By 1959, it had been sold to an American enthusiast and it remained in the United States until 1987 when it joined the stable of noted Ferrari enthusiast and historian Jess G. Pourret. The Frenchman had the 250 MM meticulously restored by British marque experts DK Engineering. Pourret then showed it at select events and retained 0274MM until his passing in 2018. From his estate, it was consigned to the 2023 Gooding Amelia Island Auctions.
