Completed in January of 1959, this Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder was fitted with covered headlights and finished in a striking blue (Blu Genziana) with a beige Connolly leather interior. It was sold through Luigi Chinetti to wealthy 18-year old scion of a button fortune, Harvey Schur. He used the car with great verve and also lent it for a feature on the cars of Enzo Ferrari in the September, 1959 issue of Sports Car Illustrated. Schur would only own the car for one year as it was sold to Allen Newman early in 1960. The next owner was Gary Wales, who had the car re-painted red and fitted with a black leather interior. The fourth private custodian was Roger Adkins, who would own the car for fifteen years between 1968 and 1983. Among the next owners were noted collectors Tom Price and Patrick S. Ryan. In the early 2000s, it finally left the United States and joined the English stable of Nigel Allen. It was subsequently restored and re-finished in burgundy with a beige leather interior, and Ferrari Classiche certified. Having shown the car at a select number of events, it was sold back to the United States in 2017. In 2023, it was consigned to headline the RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island Auction.
