Chassis:
Completed in the fall of 1952, this C-Type was sold new to Alex Thomspon through Los Angeles Jaguar dealer Charles Hornburg. A resident of Colorado Springs in Nevada, Hornburg raced his C-Type in select events before it was crashed heavily in November of 1953. After extensive repairs, requiring a new tub, centre body section and engine cover, it was acquired by Bob Downey and Pearce Woods. They continued to race the C-Type through to the end of 1955. It changed hands several times and remained in the United States until 1980, when it was repatriated to the United Kingdom by Peter Agg. He sold the car to a Switzerland-based American, who used the car in historic events and then had it completely restored by John Pearson late in 1988. The car then changed ownership twice more before it entered a longterm custodianship in the early 1990s. Since then, XKC 024 was regularly in historic events like the Mille Miglia retrospective. Although fitted with a replacement block, the original but no longer usable block is with the car again. In 2023, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction.
