Chassis:
One of two 550 GTS Maranellos sold to a private customer in period, this example was acquired new by Hitotsuyama Racing. It was raced in the Japanese GT Championship. Racing against purpose built Toyota, Honda and Nissan competition cars, it really did not stand a chance. Chassis CRD 07 was retained by its original Japanese owner. In 2023, it was restored to full running order by specialists Venture Engineering in preparation for an outing at the Le Mans Classic. It was raced by Tomas Enge at Le Mans and a fortnight later demonstrated by Peter Kox during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
