Chassis:
The eleventh of fourteen Supersonic Coupes built on the 8V chassis, this example was sold new to Alessandro Sarti of San Marino. It was finished in blu medio metallizato over a terra cotta leather interior. Sarti registered the car for the road and did show it at the Rimini Concours d’Elegance. During the 1960s, it was acquired by Piero Fagioli from Rimini, who did not use the car. Neither did the next owner, who placed the car in storage from 1971 through to 2001. It was then purchased by a prominent Belgian collector, who continued to store the car until 2011 in highly original condition. It was next submitted to a comprehensive restoration, which was completed in 2014. During the next nine years, the car was placed in the collection of what was only the car’s first owner. In immaculate condition and not seen in public since the 1960s, this 8V Supersonic was consigned to the 2023 RM Sotheby’s New York auction.
