Chassis:
Completed in May of 1954, this Series I 500 Mondial was sold new to Dutch racer Herman Roosdorp through Jacques Swaters’ Garage Francorchamps. It was raced predominantly by Roosdorp and subsequent Dutch owner Simon Maasland in events in The Netherlands and Belgium with some success. By the mid-1960s, chassis 0434MD had moved across the Atlantic and was subsequently owned by a succession of prominent collectors like James Mitchell, Peter Sachs, Bill Jacobs, Erich Traber and David Sydorick. It was restored in 1978 when it was owned by Ferrari historian Ed Niles. Bill Jacobs re-acquired the car in the early 2000s and it sold at auction early in 2018. One of very few 500 Mondials to retain the original chassis, bodywork, engine and transaxle, it was back on the market in 2024 when it was consigned to the Gooding Amelia Island Auctions.
