Chassis:
Completed in February of 1959, this is the 19th of long wheelbase Ferrari 250 GT Californias built. It was acquired new by a shipping company from Genoa, Italy. In 1967, it starred in the Italian movie Le Dolci Signori with former ‘Bond girl’ Claudine Auger behind the wheel. By the late 1960s, it was acquired by noted Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert. In 1972, it was sold to the United States through Rob de la Rive Box. In 1975, it was acquired by George Heiser, who set about tracking down the original, matching numbers engine. He managed to do so by acquiring a 250 GT Boano that was fitted with engine 1217GT. Following a spell in Sweden, it joined the collection of John Mozart. He had it restored by Phil Reilly before selling it on a year later. Since then, it changed hands only twice more before it was consigned from long-term ownership to the 2024 RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction.
