Chassis:
In 1967, Italian racer Ennio Bonomelli of the Brescia Corse team was keen to acquire a new Porsche 906. These were no longer in production but Porsche could sell him a spare frame and parts to build up a complete car. This was also a convenient way to avoid paying the stiff import duties due for a complete car. In reference to Bonomelli, the car was attributed the chassis number 906-B01. From the 1968 season, it was raced extensively by the Scuderia Brescia Corse in local events and hill-climbs. It also made four appearances in the Targa Florio with a 35th overall as the best result. The Scuderia Brescia Corse 906 was retired at the end of the 1971 from contemporary racing. It then passed through the hands of several Italian collectors before it was acquired by a Porsche enthusiast from Monaco. He had the Carrera 6 returned to full running order and entered in the 2024 Peter Auto Classic Endurance Racing 1 championship.
