A second series Type 57, this example was fitted with a Ventoux-style factory body and equipped with hydraulic Lockheed drum brakes. It was ordered for stock for the Brixton Road Bugatti dealership by Lieutenant Colonel W.L. Sorel in 1938. A customer did not appear for the car immediately, and it sat in the showroom until Bugatti agency was closed in September of 1939 by Ettore Bugatti. The car was not actually sold by the Lieutenant Colonel until September of the following year, presumably making it the last new Bugatti sold in the United Kingdom. The first private customer was L.W. Young, who could now really enjoy his purchase due to the ongoing War in Europe. In 1950, the Ventoux was acquired by H. Archer-Smith, who would own it for over two decades, changing its colour on two ccasions. The next custodian was John N. Frears CBE, who would also turn out to be a longterm owner. In 1982, chassis 57724 joined the collection of Geoffrey W. Perfect. He had it re-painted once more, to a primrose yellow with black. After a another decade-long single-ownership, the Type 57 joined the Bugatti collection of Louis M. Quételart in France. He would regularly use the car at events in France for the next 25 years. In the late 2010s, it changed hands twice before it was acquired by Dutch Bugatti enthusiast Jack Braam Ruben. He returned the highly original Ventoux to its original black paintscheme before taking part in a Bugatti Club Netherlands Rally and exhibiting the car at Retromobile. In 2024, it was consigned with three other Bugattis from the Braam Ruben collection to the Gooding & Co. London Auction.
