Chassis:
Through Schultz in Düsseldorf, this 904 Carrera GTS was sold new to experienced German racer Gerhard Koch. He raced the car with considerable success during the 1964 season, winning the Rheinland-Pfalz Trophy at the Nürburgring and placing second in the Grand Prix de Paris. After scoring a class win in the Angola Grand Prix, chassis 904-028 was sold fellow German Rainer Ising. He also campaigned the car with great success for a year. Reportedly through Porsche, the car was then sold to the United States where it was raced briefly until joining the long-term ownership of Alexander Pollack in 1972. He would go on to own the car for a remarkable 52 years during which he regularly used the car, carefully preserving its originality. At some point, it was fitted with a 901/05 specification flat six engine, which is considerably easier to run than the original four-cylinder unit. Beautifully preserved, it was consigned to the 2025 Gooding Amelia Island Auctions.
