Chassis:
Finished in Silbergrau and accompanied by a matching hard-top, this 507 Roadster was completed early in 1958. It was displayed at the BMW Pavillion in Munich until May of that year. The 507 Roadster was then off to its first owner; Gustavo Zingg, who was a German business man living in Caracas Venezuela. He was also the Mercedes-Benz distributor for Venezuela. The BMW returned to German in 1960 and would remain there in the hands of several long-term owners for the next five decades. While in the ownership of Erich Benz, it was comprehensively restored between 2006 and 2008. In 2014 a subsequent owner had the car inspected by BMW Classic. The factory ‘Black Book’ confirmed that the car retained its original chassis, suspension and bodywork, and was fitted with a period replacement alloy engine and proper ZF gearbox. In 2017, it moved across the Atlantic and was shown at select events. In 2025, it was consigned to the Broad Arrow Auctions The Amelia auction.
