Chassis:
The second ever DB4 GT built, this example was completed late in 1959 and originally numbered 002/R. In February of 1960, it was retrospectively re-numbered 0102/R to conform with the numbering system adopted for the rest of the production run. It was acquired new by works driver Noël Cunningham-Reid and finished in Bristol Red. During his ownership, it was maintained at the factory and also received the latest upgrades like a modified oil cooler. Cunningham-Reid sold the early DB4 GT in 1961 and it changed several times before it was acquired by Peter Densham in 1968. Several years later, he treated the car to a complete restoration. Densham retained the car until 1981 and among the subsequent custodians was Frank Sytner. He sold the car to Alexander Vassos Georgiadis in 1992, who immediately entrusted the DB4 GT to mark specialists RSW ltd. for another restoration. At this time, it was also finished in the current colour. Following a 21-year single ownership, chassis 0102/R was sold on and had just two subsequent owners before the meticulously maintained DB4 GT was consigned to the 2025 RM Sotheby’s London sale.
