Chassis:
A new car for the 2013 season, this 458 GTE was sold new to Team Taisan for an outing in the Asian Le Mans Series. With former Formula 1 drivers Kamui Kobayashi and Shinji Nakano among its drivers, chassis 2868 won its class every round becoming the only car to ever achieve a clean sweep in the Asian Le Mans Series. This earned the team an automatic entry for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Nakano was joined by Martin Rich and Pierre Ehret. Starting third-to-last, the trio finished 28th overall and 8th in class. At the end of the season, it was returned to Michelotto for a comprehensive service, which included an engine and gearbox rebuild. It was then shipped back to Japan where it saw only minimal use before it was sold to one of its former Le Mans drivers in 2017 and added to his private collection. It was received further service at Michelotto in 2019 and was then fully recommissioned by DK Engineering, Pursuit Racing and Stewart Roden Motors between 2023 and 2024. The Asian Le Mans winning 458 GTE was then consigned to the 2026 Gooding Christie’s Retromobile sale.
