Chassis:
Ordered in September of 1993, this Carrera RSR 3.8 was delivered in time to original owner Mark Sandridge to compete in the 24 Hours of Daytona early the next year. Following the official test where it placed 12th, it was entered as the #02 for Frank Katthöfer, Harald Grohs, Bernd Mayländer and Sandridge himself under the Rohr Corporation banner. They qualified an impressive 13th overall and a very strong race to finish fourth overall and second in class. Sandridge continued to race the car, scoring class wins at Sebring and Watkins Glen. He ended the year as IMSA GT2 Champion and runner-up in both the Exxon Championship and the World Porsche Cup. Not raced in 1995, it then passed to Karl McKeever, who continued to campaign the car for several more seasons to come in SCCA and Porsche Club of America events. Eventually restored to its successful 1994 livery, it was sold in 2006 to Neil Primrose, who is best known as the drummer of rock band Travis. In 2026, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby’s Miami sale.
