Chassis:
In March of 1955, this Ferrari 750 Monza was delivered new to Franco Cornacchia. He was the Ferrari distributor in Milan and raced under the Scuderia Guastalla. The 750 Monza was fielded in two hill climbs and the Gran Premio di Bari where it was driven by Brazilian Chico Landi before it was exported to the United States. It was subsequently raced in the highly competitive South Californian sports car scene in 1956 and 1957. During this period, it was owned by noted American novelist Alan Brown Le May and Jack Bates. It was then acquired by R.P. McGuire, who had the car repainted blue and fielded the car in a single race early in 1958, reportedly for Jim Hall. Through Otto Zipper, it was bought by Briggs S. Cunningham and displayed in the Cunningham Automotive Museum in Costa Mesa for many years. In 1985, it joined the stable of Augie Pabst and by 1987 entered the longterm ownership of a prominent Ferrari collector. Rarely seen since and believed to be the only 750 Monza still in largely original condition, it was consigned to the 2026 Gooding Christie’s Amelia Island Auctions.
