Chassis:
Completed in December of 1966 and finished in red with a black leather interior, this road-going GT40 was one seven example officially assigned to Ford’s Promotion and Disposal program. For this purpose, it was shipped from Slough to Dearborn from where it was dispatched to the legendary Tasca Ford dealership in Seekonk, Massachusetts. It was used for promotional purposes and stars in a famous photo taken of Tasca executives waiting to greet Mario Andretti together with Tasca’s own Mustang GT500 KR-8, which was the Cobra Jet Mustang prototype. Towards the end of the year, it was sold to North Shore performance dealer Al Grillo Ford. In 1968, it was acquired by David Carroll, who had it repainted yellow. During this time, it was also used to record the audio for a Gulf Oil television commercial. A few months later, it joined the stable of famous racing driver and instructor Skip Barber. He also only owned the car briefly and by March of 1969, it had entered the longterm ownership with Harvey Siegel of New York City. During the 1980s, a comprehensive restoration was carried out and chassis GT40P/1058 appeared at Watkins Glen GT40 reunions in 1989 and 1994. It finally changed hands again in 2002 and was subsequently re-restored to its original Carmen Red exterior colour. Between 2011 and 2014, it was owned by dealer Peter Klutt, who showed the car at a variety of events. From a single ownership of over a decade, it was consigned to the 2026 RM Sotheby’s Miami sale.
