Chassis:
Sold new through Luigi Chinetti, this 250 GT California Spider was built around steel body with covered headlights. The first private owner is not known but by the early 1970s, it was owned by Avi Brand of Woodbury, New York. During the following years, it changed hands several times and by the early 1990s was restored for the first time. It was painted red with a tan interior for then owner David Frankel. Some years, it was acquired by David Smith, who restored it once more in 1998. It was now finished in black over a black interior. Following a brief spell in the hands of John Mozart during the mid-2002s, it entered long-term ownership with a prominent collector from Louisville Kentucky in 2007. A multiple platinum award winning example, chassis 1431GT was eventually consigned to headline the 2026 RM Sotheby’s Miami sale.
