In its final outing GP1 was engulved in flames and virtually destroyed. Fortunately there was a third, spare chassis available and the car was completely rebuilt to its 1939 specification. The other car, GP2, has also survived and at one point both were owned by Gordon J. Chapman. Today GP1 is owned by an English ERA expert and historic racer, who regularly campaigns the rare machine. Over the years he has made some changes to the suspension and steering to improve the handling. Fitted with a two litre engine, it is shown above during the 2005 Silverstone Classic and the 2007 Goodwood Revival meeting.
