Chassis:
The only 196 S Dino produced, this chassis was delivered new to Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team (NART) late in 1959. It was immediately entered in two races of the Nassau Speedweek for Pedro Rodriguez. Early in 1960, it was raced by brothers Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez for NART in the Sebring 12 Hours and Targa Florio. It was then briefly owned by Don Pedro Rodriguez and raced at the Nürburgring before being traded back to Chinetti. He fielded the car again at Sebring and then a succession of owners campaigned the car through to the end of the 1963 season. Through Chinetti, it was then sold to Switzerland and among the owners during the next decades were the likes of Jo Siffert, Rob Walker, Count Giovanni Lurani, Giorgio Perfetti and Lord Anthony Bamford. From the early 1990s, it was regularly raced in historic events and made several appearances at the Goodwood Revival Meeting. Following a brief spell in German hands during the late 2000s, it was sold to the United States where it is now part of a prominent Ferrari collection. In 2024, it was shown at the Richard Mille Chantilly Arts & Elegance.
