Chassis:
Chassis 412014 was built to order of an American customer. Fitted with a Touring Spider body and painted red, the car was first shown at the 1937 Milan Motor Show. It was subsequently delivered to a Mr McClure Halley in New York. In 1952 or early 1953 he sold the car. It has since changed hands several times but has always remained in American ownership. The current owner acquired chassis 412014 in the mid-1980s and had it restored to very high standards.
The 8C 2900B made a very successful post-restoration debut at the 1988 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where it became the first ever Alfa Romeo to receive the much coveted 'Best of Show' award. It has since been used on the road and shown at events all over the world. In 2005 412014 returned to Pebble Beach to celebrate the company's 95th anniversary. It was joined there by two of the other three surviving short-chassis Touring Spiders.
