The Bugatti Veryunlikely really is farce of the highest calibre.

The latest lie, sorry press release, says that it will be launched in sept 2005

Yes, lets all believe that bastion of absolute truth: the American media.

Maybe it was a ploy on Ferrari's part to stop Americans from getting that many Enzos, because they knew they'd otherwise end up a) on Ebay after the owners son TWOC'd it and ripped the front off, b) crashed into a tree and burned.
    Thanks for all the fish

Here's another rumour i heard... i heard that if you have an Enzo you have to buy a specially made oil by Ferrari inorder to keep the warranty of the car, and this "special" oil is not cheap at all. I cant exactly remember how much it cost but i can certainly remember how surprised i was when i heard about it...

Screw Ferrari! i'll take the Murcielago or Gallardo thanks very much

its something like 75 bucks a liter, so a 762 $$$ oil change and if you dont use it ferrari wont warrant the $250,000 engine

    Ferrari do not make oil.

The Enzo, along with every other new Ferrari is factory filled with Shell Helix Ultra, which is hardly special, rare, or that expensive, considering that it is a fully synthetic oil.

Nor is it rare for car companies to reccommend that a car be filled with a particular brand of oil. In this case a highly engineered engine has been designed specifically for use with a particular type of oil. All of the testing and development of the engine was done with that oil. Although nothing majorly bad should go wrong if you filled it with another brand of high quality oil, like Mobil 1 5W-50 (Helix Ultra is 5W40) , Ferrari have never tried it, therefore they cannot be sure that something won't break. They don't want to pay for engine rebuilds, so insisting that only Shell is used means that they reduce the risk of having to pay out.
    Thanks for all the fish

rick, where do you keep comin' up with all these? What's next?

'I heard Ferrari also makes it so you have to keep the Enzo from going 160MPH.'

    J/p.

But I too would take a Murcielago. Make that Murcielago Barchetta.

Get us some quotes on that My Porsche.

Ferrari Competizione have a long term stadning with Shell who produce all their competition oils. i am sure Shell provide all the oils for Ferrari prodcution cars also as part of the realtionship. See http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?...cars_fuel.html

So if anyone is 'recommending' Penzoil it's likely a US distributor trying to cash in on Amrican nationalism

PS: Before Shell it used to be AGIP when they were the nationalised Italian oil company
