the current civic is huge!

It isn't that huge is it? At least not compared to the previous generation.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
true
but honda, imo, could make a better case for a small versatile, sporty hatch to compete against the mazda 2, than a more specialised car like an integra coupe.
compared to previous civics it's pretty big, kinda close to the accord it seems.
and ~1300kg iirc?

The new Civic Sedan is within 100mm of the previous Accord Euro, IIRC.
so it's ridiculously big, but it's mostly all in the nose.

Thats what it is in Canada. We get the regular CSX which is a upscale Civic, and CSX Type S which is the Si Sedan. No coupe.
I never understood why they don't bring the JDM Type R to N. America. Before I can understand because the cars weren't made here. But the Civic/CSX are already made in Ontario, and the Type S/Si gets its running gear from Japan already. The rest of the bits should be bolt-on....unless the chassis of the Type R is that different from the regular car. And unlike Europe we do have the same body style Civic as Japan with independent rear suspension in a 3 box body, as opposed to the twist-beam hatch back...

They like to keep the best products for themselves.
Unfortunately.
I really wouldn't mind seeing the Type R sold in limited numbers, just as the Integras were. Then they could hike up the prices. Besides, the more expensive it gets, the less of a chance ricers can get a hold on them.
