Consider this: what does it say about the times we live in if, for the sake of argument, he in fact was the most deserving of all the candidates?
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain one as an adult.
He came dancing across the water
With his galleons and guns
Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that republicans will cry us an ocean, after this Obama Nobel Prize. This prize is like pouring acid on an old wound, as far as republicans are concerned. It hurts them more than it hurts the world.
First of all, Obama has achieved one key objective that eluded Bush for 8 years. He seems to have been able to bring many nations together to do what Bush could not do in 8 years.

1. North Korea has been cooperating with Obama for the last few months. He even secured the release of two US journalists from North Korea, without a fuss or argument. We shall wait and see if it remains the same.
2. Iran has allowed inspectors to visit their nuclear facilities under Obama.
3. Healthcare reform, as much as republicans would love to torpedo the idea and concept as they did with Bill Clinton, will be a reality in the USA, whether republicans like it or not.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...althcare_N.htm
4. Libya, the former arabian bad boy of Africa, has suddenly turned a new leaf, and Ghadaffi is eager to do whatever Obama demands of him. He even calls Obama his son.
5. Iraq has become far more stable under Obama than it did under Bush.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...-attacks_N.htm
6. Obama has been able to wrestle the financial behemoths and their executives to the ground. These financial giants are now cooperating with federal regulations to dampen their insatiable greed and avarice.
7. Obama has stabilized the economic down turn in the US, in under 9 months, when Bush and republicans failed to do so in 2 years.
The only hiccup so far under Obama is his worst nightmare----Afghanistan. What happens in Afghanistan may end up defining the rest of his administration. Afghanistan can still be salvaged so long as the US gets Pakistan to cooperate with ferreting out the Taliban and their cozy relationship with the Pakistani ISI.
We have a jobless economic recovery in the making. Its gonna get better in the US of A, with time. The jobless recovery is part of the republican plan to frustrate Obama.

Republicans tends to be the owners of capital and by so saying, they are the ones who can determine if they are wiling to hire the owners of labor. Sooner than later, they will start hiring owners of labor again. The republican hold-out behavior will succumb to their innate desire to go forth and make money. Invariably, they will need owner's of labor to do so.
A prize should not only be the outcome of actual achievements. Sometimes, a prize should be used for encouraging others and situations, that appear to be viable and value-adding. It is the latter that is the reason for Obama's prize. Obama has endured so much kicking and abuse form republicans in the last 8 months, that it is fitting to do something that will make our President stand high and tall for us all. This is not the mind-set of republicans, who surprisngly rejoiced in the streets of the USA when Obama failed to clinch the 2016 Olympic bid for Chicago (Illinois), and yet are saddened by the fact that he receives a prize for himself and in honor of the whole nation.
I think it is insidous for one group of people (republicans) to want to see this President fail, so much so, that their they salivate over such a possibility, even at the expense of the nation as a whole. They even insult Obama without blinking.

Here is an article showing republicans refusing to vote for the defense bill, just because a rider bill (an attached bill to the main bill) protecting gays was attached to it. Very sad!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a republican using a democratic opponents initials for target practice.

And here is the most insane news of all---republicans carrying and sometimes brandishing guns at a rally where Obama was making a speech. What were they thinking??????? How can they disrespect our President so????

just to clarify things. a military officer, no matter what grade, DOES NOT make policy. i repeat, he does not make, attempt to make, or operate contrary to the policy set forth by the civilian leadership.
its looking more and more that he will not send more. it seems he is leaning to handling it the way it was handled initially, and making it more of a special forces war. small scale combat against specific targets, not the large scale ground combat it has turned into. they are determiing whether it is in our best interest to keep fighting the taliban with the same intensity, or focus only on al quaeda and strengthening the afghani military so they can take care of themselves and not let the taliban regain power.
Honor. Courage. Commitment. Etcetera.
Gen McChrystal, the military officer in charge, should be asked to hand over the stars on his collars, and resign his appointmnet. How much do you know about McChrystal? Let me help you out a bit here.

How are we sure that McChrystal, is not being urged to ask for more troops so that businesses benefitting from the war can continue to reap more profits??????? You may want to read this article in Vanity Fair, to be sure about how profitable Iraq and Afghanistan wars are to some really powerful businesses in the USA.
