Well in terms of value for money and even quality wise, the Sportage seems to be quite OK. (also with the warranty perio that they are offering)I recently looked at one as a rental car for four grown-ups and four samsonites, and found the luggage space not large enough, but if you are not requiring such space on a daily basis it might be alright.

We had the original one about a million years ago, and it was quite rugged and well built and even capable off road, but it has nothing to do with the new one.
On the other hand the i30 seems to be holding up well, concerning modern Hyundai-Kia Group products.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
