The subsequent six examples were clothed by Scaglietti in Modena following the same design. These could be distinguished from the prototype by the cold-air intake on the engine cover, whereas the Pinin Farina bodied machine simply sported a blister to clear the Weber carburettors. Prepared specifically for Le Mans, the first two Interims also featured special engines with lightweight, Elektron cam covers and sump.

Le Mans proved the ideal testing ground for the Pinin Farina design and both examples entered featured at the sharp end of the field. Teething problems, however, dropped them down the order with the Scaglietti bodied car eventually placing fourth overall and second in class behind an earlier 250 GT. The other Interims were delivered in time for the Tour de France to their respective owners and once again the latest evolution of the 250 GT excelled in this gruelling event. The last example built, driven by Olivier Gendebien and Lucien Bianchi scored what was the fourth consecutive for the Ferrari 250 GT.

Ironically, the 250 GT Interim's raison d'être is also what rendered the car obsolete after less than a season of racing. The arrival of the all-new 250 GT SWB, which carried over the Interim's design and engine changes in an altogether more compact package with disc brakes, raised the bar considerably. Although they form the 'missing link' between two distinct generations of 250 GT competition cars, the Interim Berlinetta is not very well known and only very rarely seen. It also takes a trained eye to even distinguish one from the subsequent, and relatively more common SWB.
