Anglo-Canadian auctioneer RM Sotheby's have added a pair of iconic Jaguars to the lot list for the upcoming Monterey Sale. The absolute headliner is this XKSS, which has a pre-sale estimate of $12 - $14 million. Built on the chassis originally designated XKD 564, it was delivered new to the United States. Never completely restored, it has only had three owners since 1976. Among the car's former custodians were Anthony Bamford and Campbell McLaren. Chassis XKSS 707 is only the second XKSS to be offered at auction in the last decade.
Of a slightly earlier vintage is this C-Type. Also sold new to the the United States, it was extensively raced during its early years. During the late 1980s, it was meticulously restored by marque expert John Pearson. Since then, it has been regularly used in events like the Mille Miglia retrospective. Offered from a single ownership of three decades, XKC 024 has a pre-sale estimate of $3.5 - $4.25 million.
