| Wow! |
| MetalFan 1-10-2003 |
The BMW Z4 is absolutely primo, I love the design! Not only that, but the performance is very, very nice, somewhere in-between a Boxster and a Boxster S, I understand, but it costs less then the very bottom entry level Porsche, now that's a performance bargain! The Z4 uses the same 170kw engine that features in the E39 530i and the 330(c)i, but because of its smaller frame and reduced weight, this time, the engine propels the Z4 roadster to 100kmph (60mph) in just under 6 seconds! The Z4 is a MASSIVE improvement on the Z3, and even though I'm 6'4, I can fit in it extremely well, with some room to spare! Good job BMW! |
| The BMW Z4 is the best car this year!! |

The BMW Z4 is the best car this year, The design is beautiful. When you see this car in the street then you will wan't to shoot the driver. This has got to be one of my favourite cars of all time! |
| not sexy |
| shoura20 9-6-2003 |
the z3 is the best roadster in the world, the z3 will still the best design for a roadster even after many years ,no tt no slk , but the z4 is not an ugly design like the new e65 and the new e60,i always believe that bmw is the car,but now after a very strange desings i have nothing to say cuz i care about the design more about power ,any brand can make a powerfull car ,but what about the design ...... when i first saw the z4 i felt that the car is feeling sad and bad,it is not as sexy as the z3. |

If the z4 headlights look like the audi tt then my girlfriend looks like Pamela Anderson..... |
| More power. |
| carmaniac 2-4-2003 |
AC Schnitzer didi a great work on the Z4 roadster. however the car is supercharged. The design of this supercharger is done in the way that it only needs 38000 rpm to achieve boost pressure of 0.35 bar. This gives the car 295 hp. and a bigger torque for about 8o Nm. Great car. |
| It's ok. |

the new generation of z3(z4) is worth for their fames.but i think tt or s2000 is more attacted for me. |
| More Bangle confusion |
| wanam3 12-1-2003 |
Chris Bangle's confusing design department strikes again. All designs since the Z9 have been a study in design confusion. The only thing that keeps BMW on top is a superior mechanical package. Unfortunately the skin wrapped around those mechanicals leaves much to be desired. The E46 was the last decent design execution from BMW. Performance wise the Z4 is a step up the preformance ladder, but unfortunatley the exterior package is just another exercise in confusion. |
| Bleah!!! |
| Blower 7-1-2003 |
First impression ugly! Second: still ugly! Third: UGLYYY! I don't even care about the performances if the design is so...I never was a BMW fan and i always thought that the bmw is for show ups and i hate to see every rich guy driving a bmw and knowing squat about engines or cars! The only bmw i admire is the M3 CSL...(good job there)! By the way the 2004 SLK is way better then the z4 at least it's better at the desing! In conlusion i would definetly choose an s2000 instead the z4! That's my opinion at least.... |
| Flame Surfacing Finally sees the light of day... |
| IBrake4Rainbows 11-11-2002 |
Not quite sure still about this one, the flame surfacing on the side really polarises opinions, but it does look distinctive. At least there is a car under there now, considering the sloppy effort on the chassis of the last Z3. Heres hoping that Chris Bungle and his flame surfacing light up the CafEstrip! |
| complicated design |
| energy2 8-11-2002 |
This car looks like it has been crashed into from the side. Those creases make it look like its had a car crash/. The shark esque nose though is great, though the overall design is too complicated and has no form. Although undoubetdly better than the hairdressers car, the Z3, and the fact it will sell thousands still doesnt convince me that this car is better than the boxster or the new cadillac crossfire |

Ive enjoyed my 3.0i Z3 for 4 years now and had decided not to shop around EIts just so great to drive. I received an invite to test drive the Z4 at a local dealer EI had the time and thought What the HeckE So I ended up driving the 3.0i with steptronic. I was, to say the least, extremely impressed. The acceleration was great, it could stop on a dime, and the steptronic (for a man whos a firm believer in feelingEthe car via a stick shift)EIn general, BMW appears to have looked for any possible improvements that the Z3 could possibly require Eand then implemented them (from the ragtop to the cup holders). Anyway, I went ahead and ordered oneE1018 |
| Against the trend |
| IBrake4Rainbows 24-9-2002 |
Now, I do hate to go against convention and all, but i find this car to be quite ugly on the whole.I mean, i like details and such, such as the rear lights and roolover hoops, but the front, interior, side profile and back are truly disfigured. BMW should always set trends, not follow them, and i think this car is a testament to that saying. |
| It IS a fun car to drive... |
| Tsunamis_Knight 16-9-2002 |
I've, fortunately, had the chance drive one of these babies already. My school (BMW STEP) recieved one of the prototypes a few weeks back. It's really a great car and although I must admit that I was only allowed to pilot the vehical within the school's lot, it really nice. Also this is the first manual transmissioned BMW I've drive that you could release the clutch without depressing the gas pedal and not stall the engine. To bad there are no plans for an M version in the future. :( |

Just like many of you out there who are fans of BMW, I was too disappointed in the Z3 when many reviews told me how incapable the chassis is versus the powerful inline-6 engines they put in. Now the new generation of Z3 (Z4) has come, with an all-new chassis and much more elegant look, I am 100% it'll easily take over either TT or SLK when it comes to redefining German roadsters. The only complain about this hot convertible is the non-integrated nose/hood that used to be on the old 3-series. If BMW would manage to just cut and paste the hood from the current 3-series onto the new Z4, it will be perfect already. As a final note, rumor says that BMW would increase the price of this Z4 by about $3000. |
| inspired BMW! |
| vittorio 9-7-2002 |
"Well, actually this is not all I expected from BMW especially after the legendary Z8 ; I became dissapointed finding that this roadster uses the shape of the Ferrari 550 maranello boot at the rear side ;and audi TT head lights . however, after all this is a BMW and in my opinion it can attract some fans to itself.""" |
| I wasn't expecting this!!!!!!! |

"Well......No doubt BMW has done excellent job!!Well done CHAPS! As far as myself is concerned, I am not at all the BMW fan,I am or ""I was"" a MERC boy and specially I used to hate ' Z3 '. Couple of days ago, I received an e-mail from ultimatecarpage.com saying that they have updated their page.I just clicked on the link and I was on their home page. The first thing I noticed was Z4 and I said to myself before clicking the picture, ""Hun...another fail model"". But you will not believe that the moment I saw the snaps of Z4, I was surprised rather shocked. Not only because of its superb and marvellous look but I was thinking that it look far more elegant than Z3 and for sure its price would be pretty much less than Z8. So, now the next thing I would be interested in,is the price of the unit. If they manage to sell this car under 35,000 Sterling pounds, it would be a great success for BMW and a disaster for Mercedes(SLK & CLK) and Porsche(Boxter). I was planning to buy Mercedes SLK 320 in September but now for sure I will wait for this precious gift by BMW. """ |

The headlight treatment looks a bit like the headlights on hte Audi TT |
| Audi TT ripoff |
| Unknown 6-7-2002 |
I never liked the Z3, and now that its replacement is here, I'm still not pleased. Merge the two grills in the front, take away that ugly bulldoggish shape off of the car, and slap the Audi badge at the front, and you've got yourself an Audi TT. The BMW Z9 showed a promising trend in BMW design, but now I'm disappointed. The new 7-series was ok, but this is crap, in my opinion. I love BMW. This is not a BMW. Please hire the old designers. |
| wow |
| Puki 5-7-2002 |
I can hardly wait to see this car in real life.I've been a BMW fan since my early childood, and I think this model will be a great success, 'cause it would offer great feeling at an affordable price...At least more affordable than the Z8 :) |
