Chassis:
Finished in the green colour of his long time backer BP, this T70 Mk3B was sold new to well known British privateer racer David Piper. He campaigned the car throughout Europe during the 1969 season. Making a guest appearance, German veteran Hans Herrmann drove the car to a victory in the Solituderennen. At the end of the year, chassis SL76/150 was sold on but continued to be raced during the 1970 season by the likes of Richard Attwood, Chris Craft and also David Piper. It also starred in the Steve McQueen movie Le Mans and driven to a win at Magny Cours by Grand Prix ace Jean-Pierre Beltoise. Over the 1970/1971 season, the T70 Mk3B was acquired by French racer Pierre-Henri Archambaud. It was mainly campaigned in local events, scoring several victories until it was retired from contemporary racing at the end of 1972. Among the subsequent owners were Franco Sbarro, David Piper once again and Brian Redman. During the 1980s, it was used in historic racing, sporting Ecurie Bonnier colours. Following long term Swedish and French ownership, it joined the formidable stable of a British historic racer. Beautifully prepared by specialists Moto Historics, it has been raced at select events.
