Chassis:
Originally finished in white with a black interior, chassis 09849 was sold new to an American client through Luigi Chinetti. During the early 1970s, it was crashed and repainted green after the damage was repaired. Later in the decade, it was modified again with the pop-up lights removed and the car painted burgundy. The car was eventually acquired by collector Bill Kontes, who had the 365 California restored to its original configuration. It was finished in the black with a brown interior it still wears today. Having shown the car at major events for over a decade, Kontes consigned the car to the RM Auctions Leggenda e Passione sale in 2007. It was acquired by Andrew Pisker and then passed to Alex Rittweger. In this period, it was restored to its original colour combination. After being shown on the Fisken's stand at Retromobile, it passed to a UK based Thai collector. He showed the car the following year at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
