Chassis:
The first of three new cars built by TWR in 1987, chassis J12-C-187 was primarily intended for use in the shorter rounds of the World Championship. It was allocated that year to Jan Lammers and John Watson. They started the year with a victory in the opening round at Jarama in Spain. They would go on to win twice more with this car, at Monza and Fuji. For the 1988 season, it was upgraded to XJR-9 specification. In this guise it was raced a handful of times with a second at Jerez as the best result. Following a spell in a Swiss collection, it was subsequently owned by a Swedish historic racer, who had a formidable collection of Group C cars. In more recent years, it joined the stable of a British historic racer, which also includes an XJR-12. Ahead of the 2018 season it was prepared to full running order by specialists Motohistorics.
