Although the chassis number suggests this was the second new 907 built ahead of the 1968 season, it was not used until the BOAC International at Brands Hatch. Driven by Hans Herrmann and Jo Siffert, the flat-eight engined machine qualified on pole but failed to reach the finish. It was then brought to Sicily as a spare for the Targa Florio, where it was pressed into service after Ludovico Scarfiotti had a heavy accident during practice with the race car he shared with Gerhard Mitter. The effort proved in vain as chassis 022 again failed to reach the finish. At the end of the season, the 907 was sold to Italian Corrado Manfredini, who campaigned it in select events, at times sharing with Gianpiero Moretti of MOMO fame. The car's final contemporary outings came in the hands of a German racer during the 1970 season. Today, it is owned by a Swedish Porsche dealer, who regularly races it in historic events.
