Following the demise of the AMX/3 program, two examples were bought from AMC by designer Richard Teague. This car was one of that pair and was eventually sold to George Doughtie Jr and then on to the Prisma Collection. The current custodian acquired the car in 2003. He had it restored to its original configuration and re-fitted with its original engine. It has since been shown at events around North America, including the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where it joined another AMX/3 in a special class celebrating Giotto Bizzarrini.
