Chassis:
This Lightweight Carrara 2.7 RS was built to custom order of Finnish Porsche works driver Leo Kinnunen. He had requested a car to be used as a reconnaissance car ahead of the 1973 1000 Lakes Rally. Kinnunen specified 'ST' style wheel-arches to accommodate wider tyres. These were later fitted to only one other 2.7 RS, which was built for another factory driver, Herbert Linge. A unique feature to this car was use of the RS 3.0 style rear wing. Following its 'recce' duties, Kinnunen acquired the car outright but it did stay at his mechanic in Germany to avoid the stiff Finnish import duties. This also allowed him to use the car on the road while he raced a Porsche 917/10 in the Interserie Championship. Following Kinnunen's ownership, the car did go to Finland where it changed hands several time before it joined an impressive Porsche collection in the Scandinavian country. It has survived in highly original condition and by 2018 had amassed only 63,213 km. It was subsequently consigned to the RM Sotheby's Monaco Auction on May 12, 2018.
