Chassis:
The second 962C built for the Richard Lloyd Racing team around an aluminium honeycomb chassis, this example was allocated the chassis number 962-200. It was ready for the 1988 season when it was raced by James Weaver, Derek Bell, Tiff Needell, Will Hoy, Martin Donnelly and Price Cobb. The best result came right at the end of the year when Weaver and Cobb finished third in the Tampa IMSA Group C World Challenge race with the car wearing a striking Cabin livery. In 1989, it continued to be raced including at Le Mans where it was shared by Bell, Weaver and Needell. They were forced to retire while running seventh overall with just two hours to go. The best result that year was a second for Needell in the Silverstone Supersprint Supercup race. Following a pair of unsuccessful outings in 1990, chassis 962-200 was retired from contemporary racing. It was then sold to Nick Mason and then moved to the United States in 1998 where it was owned and raced by Murray Smith. In 2003, it joined the Historic Porsche Collection in Great Britain. Raced at select historic Group C events, it was more recently fully restored by specialist Trevor Crisp of Katana ltd. In 2022, it was pressed back into service at the Spa Classic meeting.
