At Toyota Auto Museum in Aichi, Japan, the plaque at the Bond Car reads:

"Toyota 2000GT Bond Car (1966, Japan)
This is one of the two Bond Cars expressly made for the British film 'You Only Live Twice'.
"It's base car, Toyota 2000GT, made its debut in Tokyo Motor Show in 1965, and was made available in the market in 1967. As the first Gran Turismo from Japan, it set 3 world records renewed 13 international records, proving to be a high performance sports car of the world standard.
"The price at that time was 2,380,000 JPY, double the price of Toyota Crown, a luxury class car. Out of 337 vehicles manufactured, 100 of them were exported."

So where'd the other Bond Car go? -but not that I could afford it :-/

Toyota can keep building cars for the next 50 years, and not create anything as stylish or special as the 2000GT - a steady stream of Camrys and Priuses assures this.

This is a very cool automobile. Great styling, good performance, and now very rare. It was recognized enough to become a car featured in the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice; a spot usually reserved for Aston Martin and BMW. However, the movie did take place in Japan, which made it fitting to have a great Japanese sports car in it. Wish it became more popular, but price always seems to be a limiting factor.
