When I was in school, I was a hard core Chevy fan. My dream car was a 65 to 67 Corvette but I new that at 16 I could never afford one unless I found a junker. That never happened, so I went for the next best thing, a 69 SS Camaro with a junked 350 CID.

I was in a technical high school, so I convinced my shop teacher to turn my car into our class project. It took us a full year but we rebuilt the car, Ford 9 inch read end with 3.90 gears, a Doug Nash 5 speed, front discks, rear drums and a 427 with an 850 CFM Holley carb. All black. It was sweet!

Now that I'm older (39), I dream of owning many cars. But with the advantage that work will make it possible to own some of them in the future

Here in the US (or at least Florida) 15 year olders could get a permit and after 6 months their license, which in my opinion was f*cked up. A lot of accidents were going on and they changed this rule over to 1 year so that you have to be at least 16 to be able to drive.

Some guys at 16 are mature enough to drive and some aren't... I would say that most aren't, but then again, there's just people that will never be mature enough to drive or will simply drive like crap all their lifes.
Here in good ol' NZ we can get our learners licence when we turn 15, then after 6 months we can get our restricted licence, then another year and we can have our full. Which means we can be fully licenced drivers by the time we are 16 and a half. Its a pretty sweet deal i have to say

I don't agree, There's no substitute for time behind the wheel. At 16, 17 or 18 when you first get your licence, you feel imortal, so you take risks that you won't normaly take as time goes by. I've been driving for 23 years and can tolirate high speeds just fine, with the added bonus that I know what I'm doing now.

    Urban myth
The MAJORITY of the population loses the testesterone drive of a teenager and settles down to work, family life and mowing th elawn.
No biological reason why anyone can't chose to keep driving/racing.
Check out the ages of the guys competing in the world and British classic race series.
We DO get slower reactions and eyesight can start failing, but these can be made up for by experience ( avoiding the need for the quick recovery ) and glasses
2 guys in last weekends rally were COMPETING and doing well in an Escort Mexico on the forest stages and THEY were in their 60s.
The lsit of drivers from track and rally who are in their 60s and 70s who are STILL competing is huge
Not every one of us dons slippers and has a dog in our lap in the evenings !!!!!
