I read some of your comments on the Enzo, and someone had written that the front looked too much like a f1 car. The Enzo was produced as a street f1 car, and have nothing to do with the f40 and f50, so you can't call it "f60". And yes the design doesn't look like other supercars but so what ?. The Enzo is much more race than for instant a Lamborghini Murcielago. When you see the car in real is it just the coolest car you've ever seen. So before you just talk down on it, do a little research. I'm a 16 year old danish boy so it is not that hard. (:

"I was so excited to hear about the Ferrari Enzo and waited patiently for years to see and hear it for real. My first impression was, I have to say, a big disappointment- proportions all wrong, those nasty silver partner stickers, all of it just wasn't what I was expecting after what was, well for me at least, the Ferrari perfection of the F40 and F50. My biggest regrest was that it retained the two-up front seating position. It's just not natural for a car of this calibre to be driven off center. McClaren appreciated this and took a unique step in rectifying it whereas Ferrari missed that opportunity, and in *the* car bearing Enzo's name too, I thought it would be different. So really I was kinda let down. My mission in live is to own a Ferrari- it's all I work for, all I think about. When the 360 came out again, I fealt a bit sad. To me it didn't have the distinctive Ferrari nose, or the beautiful rear, it was more like a Supra for gawds sake! I dont really want practicle: I want what I'm dedicating my life too, and that's perfection, nothing less will do. I like character, no, I LOVE character- the F50 to me is still drop-dead beautiful, seeing it in motion and listening to its exhaust note brings tears to my eyes everytime. So anyway, on to the Enzo. Initially I was sad, no pictures were doing it justice, surely Ferrari could not allow this misshapen car to bear Enzo's name?! Then I saw a video, and this squat, squished, bobbly Ferrari suddenly took on the correct aspect. It certainly wasn't short, as the camera panned around the car my eye caught so much more subtlety. I began to get excited again, there was more to this car. Like the 450M, she was beginning to grow on me. When at last we set off to view Ferrari's current supercar I can't tell you how emotional I fealt. I was still prepared to perhaps be a little disappointed, that yeah, there's always a next time. As we drew into the car park I could see this rocket ship with it doors in the air and a crowd of people stood around, the sun and lighting glinting over its body. I did feel tears in my eyes already being so close to it, but I held on and turned away until we entered the showroom. When we went in and were greeted my hands were shaking, I could see her, long, and flat and graceful from the corner of my eye, basking in the attention. Stunning! Forza Ferrari! Moving in close your eyes flick from detail to detail...the huge nose, that F1 style wing so perfectly blended into to the nost and lighting arcs, and the lights, even the lights of course on closer inspection were...just perfect. Such subtle inlets along the door frame to big scoopes to the rear...and those ""stickers"", as Tiff put it, glinting, beatiful...a real racer. So we all stared, some through misty eyes at what I could only describe as pure art, kinetic art, its like the violence and speed of racing caught in a moment. Moving around the Enzo it is certainly not misproportioned in any way at all. She's long and low and lithe and oh so wide, pure, pure thoroghbred. What I thought of from the pictures as the wrong rear for this car simply ""extends"" naturally when you appreciate the real flow and lines this car has. It's like the icing on the cake, its the perfect compliment to the mid-section and the nose, just as they are to it. It's all, as you can guess, just wonderful. It is the most disctintive and natural Ferrari I have ever set my eyes on. I never got to listen to the music this car can no doubt generate. That's almost a given looking over the engine and knowing how much care Ferrari give to the sounds of their children. My comments then are that you need to appreciate this supercar first hand to appreciate the sophisticated Italian design. She is a work of art and a predatory racing car at the same time. Imagine what a challenge it is to achieve that! Bearing the great man's name and the prancing horse and inheriting the history that goes with the marque this car, for me, represents what it is to alive. So she's expensive and elusive, but I just feel happy knowing that she exists and that Ferrari are still capable of such wonders. I wont even mention the name of its so called competitors. Tifosi aren't interested in the other pretenders. My heart just aches to be the owner of a Ferrari Enzo."

The Ferrari Enzo is by far the most beautiful machine to ever come out of Maranello. This Automobile has set records in almost every category. The Enzo is a big leep forward for Ferrari, the great F50 had power and finesse although it lacked the speed of the Enzo. The F50 gave up 50kmh's to the Mclaren F1, sure the Mclaren was the fastest at the time and still is, but it was extreamly grotesque and never deserved to even compete with Ferrari. This is where the Ferrari Enzo came in, it destroyed the competition in everything from Acceleration to the Best quarter mile, Ferrari now only needs to improve the Top Speed of the automobile, the next Ferrari super car will truly be the best, but for now the Ferrari Enzo is by far the best.

"From the eighties 288 GTO to the new millenniums Enzo, Ferrari only gets better. The design is genius, obviously influenced by the past F40 and F50; well documented in the pictures. The absence of a wing is one way Ferrari shows how much it has advanced. Actually having a hydraulically controlled wing, unnoticable till it reaches a certain speed. Something I noticed is, the biggest controversies always get the most attention. In my opinion the only way to advance in anything is to invent (or stand out), which is exactly what Ferrari did, and always does."

when the first pix of the enzo were released i didnt like it very much until i saw some pictures of it in mags, autoshows etc.ferrari have done a brilliant job designing the Enzo.i love its long smooth lines.a pure mixture of lines & curves.im thinking of buying one for myself [actually a scale model].i really want to see one for real.i wonder how it will compete with the pagani zonda.i read the cover story in the magazine 'Road & Track' on the Enzo which was competed with the mclaren f1 & saleen s7 & it beat them.the writer stated:the new Ferrari Enzo is the most capable sports car we've ever tested. In fact, it set new records in most of our road test categories: best 0-60, 0-100, and quarter-mile times, quickest slalom, and best 80-0 braking distance. Outrageous!.

"""GREAT NEWS! I just got my July 2003 issue of Road & Track, and there's a bright red new Enzo on the cover! They did a 1500-mile independent road test of it, and here's what they got: 0-60 mph in 3.28 seconds (best they ever tested) 0-100 in 6.6 seconds (best they ever tested) Quarter mile: 11.1 seconds at 133.0 mph (best they ever tested) Skidpad: 1.10 g Braking 80-0 mph: 188 ft. (best they ever tested) Slalom: 73.0 mph (best they ever tested) Whereas, the Mclaren F1 and Saleen S7, as tested by R&T, got, respectively: 0-60 in 3.4 and 3.30 0-100 in 7.7 and 8.9 Quater mile: 11.6 at 125 and 11.8 at 120 mph Skidpad: 0.86 and 0.99 Braking 80-0 mph: 215 and 230 Slalom: 66.5 and 70.g mph Pretty awesome, huh? This site should update their stats. Slap to the Ferrari haterz! :-)"" So it is the end of the ""McLaren F1 is faster"" blabla story. Its not faster even on a staright, and when the first corner and braking comes, it kills it, just like everything been made for the road. And who cares about tuned muscle cars? They are as far from the perfection of the Enzo it not worth to talk about it... And remember Koenig or other german tuning factory will tune the Enzo with at least 1000Hp turbocharge engine..."

Bit of a beast this one. It's a lot rougher than most Ferraris, even the F50, which personally I found a bit tame for its looks. But the Enzo certainly doesn't disappoint in performance this time. It's a shame there's no proper manual, but this paddle shift is stunning. The shift times are exceptionally short, and i love the rev lights on the steering wheel, very Michael Schumacher! Handling's superb, even better once you figure out how to turn off all the traction control and active stability management and all that jazz. To be honest it detracts a bit too far from the original Ferrari idea in that sense, there's too much interference and gadgetry, but when it's cut down to a minimum it's one superb car. Thing that scared me was the brakes. I've used carbon systems before, only on extensively prepared track cars, but still, the theory remains that they should only work when stinking hot, so I was worried about the Enzo. However, I was assured that they work perfectly even when absolutely stone cold. And the fade is actually negative, as the heat generated is excellently dissippated but those massive front air intakes. Quite a handy piece of kit then. As for competition, only the McLaren F1 was anything really like it, but you can't buy thoes anymore, which is sad but fair play as they cost more than they were sold for. Things like the SLR are too different, too smooth and soft. The Enzo's a real animal, and I like that. Probably a bit too scary for a lot of people though, as on the road I can imagine it's a bit lairy. Even the Carrera GT's quite smooth and easy to use on the road. Just a matter of what you're after really, they're all legendary! We live in good times...

"Respectfully, I have to disagree with what others have said about Ferrari unreliability. I have a small connection to Ferraris as I work for a former employee, am best friends with a current employee, and have performed extensive research on Ferrari. It is not so much the engine speed that deteriorates the Ferrari engine. It is the high compression ratio of Ferraris and of Formula 1 cars that compromise their longevity. Engine speed only determines moment of inertia of the crank, and relative piston speed. However, because of the extremely short stroke of F1 engines, piston speeds are closely matched by the likes of a Honda S2000, even though the S2000 revs to half the engine speed. An engine's static compression ratio, however, determines the stress upon piston base, rod, and cylinder wall. It is because of this stress that Ferrari engines must be torn down roughly every 10k miles (it's also so the owners can brag about rediculous bills =] ) That being said; the Enzo is an amazing machine that will astound all for years to come, just as its competitor, the late McLaren F1, did. Enzo Ferrari, R.I.P. for your legacy is held strong!"

"Seeing the Enzo in magazines I wasn't too impressed upon from it's looks, though I was impressed by it's specs. However, after seeing one live at the Canadian International Auto Show, my ideas about it's looks definitely changed. The Enzo is an amazing supercar, and also has impressive looks, although the looks don't cater to elegance, they are more of the ""pure"" race car appearance. Some of the cars the Enzo will have to compete with (based on looks, price, power, performance, and availability) are: -Bugatti 16/4 Veyron -Porsche Carrera GT -Lamborghini Murcielago -Pagani Zonda (Though i'm not big fan of this car) -Aston Martin DBAR1 (Only because of it's rarity) -McLaren F1 and McLaren F1 LM -Audi Nuvolari Quattro Concept -Mercedes Benz SLR As you can see the Enzo has quite the compitition, though the winner of the best exotic supercar will have to be determined by every sports car enthusiast, since everyone has their own ideas of performance, looks, practically, and so on. ~whiteRabbit"

"I've seen far to much discussion of top speed, 0-60, 0-100, etc. As if there are the only figures that allow us to quantify engineering excellence (never mind driving experience). So take a look at these figures: ""...the engineers optimised the car to run at low to medium speeds - 110 mph to 125 mph - and high to very high speeds - 185 mph to 218 mph - producing 334 kg of downforce in the first range, rising to a spectacular 775 kg at 185 mph before dropping back to 585 kg flat out."" By any road car standards, that is ALOT of downforce! OK, so it doesn't begin to compare with an F1 car in High-downforce trim (they're know to generate up to 3000kg), but when you think most road cars generate LIFT at the speed ranges quoted, then you get the idea that this is a very special motor car!"

I dropped my 355 off for service today and saw one of the first (if not THE first) customer Enzos in town that was also being serviced. With permission I opened the door and sat in it. The movement of the door had a fluidity that no Lambo I've been in could match. There was a numbered plaque beneath the A pillar stating that this is one of 399 cars, although the manager told me that 50 more will be built due to high demand. The door closed with the authority of my MBs, and much better than the 355 spider. With the door closed my shoulders was squished and I could barely see out of the car. The carbon fiber tub was deep, even more so than the F50. Naked carbon fiber was everywhere, from the center console and on. The seat was very narrow, hugging my hips more than any exotic I've been in. Naturally my experience was limited to the car being stationary, yet it was special. I can only imagine what it's like to drive, on Fiorano or Angeles Crest HWY. The service area was replete with Ferraris. Notably there was an F40 and an F50, both red as was the Enzo. There was also a red BB512 and a couple of 512TRs, plus an assortment of 355s, 360s and 550s, etc, in addition to a number of Maseratis. Even in this company, the Enzo stood out as striking. Not just different or special, which it of course is, but striking. One may love or hate the appearance of this car, but none can ignore it. The fact that it is also one of the best performers ever is just icing on the cake. I know of the owner, and I privately congratulate him on his car...

THE Ferrari Enzo has been rumored to have started a whole new racing class since the aero dynamics are basically an f1 car. The 3 cars that are supposidly going into that class above gts in le man are the Mercedes Slr the porsche carrera gt and of course the Ferrari Enzo. If it does come to be it will be a big step and set the bar much higher for all gt racing teams and developers.

"There is a magazine called ""Forza"" in my country that has an interview with the designer of the Enzo. I suggest my co-readers get a copy of this magazine and read the article. For those of you who don't have access to this magazine; the designer talks about how the Enzo is capable of doing 400KPH (250MPH) but Ferrari decided for political reasons not to go with maximum speed. Ferrari believed that F1 cars don't go that fast and F1 cars are no quicker than LeMans cars so why should they make a ""road"" car faster. The article goes on and talks about how Ferrari concentrated on acceleration and handling. An interesting read."

"I am glad to see that some people here have an ""eye"" for design. People must understand that not everyone has an ""eye"". Just like not everyone can do astro-physics or have an ""ear"" for music. Anyone who considers the Enzo a pretty car or even an okay car is simply wrong. When there is debate over the design of the car, it usually means it is indeed ugly. Beauty is beauty and we all can agree about a beautiful sunset or supermodel, but some people have tendencies to like certain kinds of looks in a girl(implants, etc) or looks in a car. It is that simple. But truthfully, the Enzo is mis-designed. Any car that looks horrible in pics is at best okay in person. Look at the F40, F50, F1, the Porsche GT1, CLK, etc. and we can see that all these cars (in general) receive applause about their design and ALWAYS look good in pics. Enzo is the first car in a long time to receive so much negativity- and for good reason- it looks like the nose and tail belong to different cars and there is a serious lack of fluidity. It also actually looks ""older"" or ""dated"" in design (maybe the F40 era) and certainly not as modern looking as the F1 or F50 or GT1 or CLK. Ferraris, more than any cars, are known to blend performance with beauty. The Enzo breaks with that tradition and it is a shame that it bears Mr. Ferrari's name. I am the proud owner of 2 of Ferrari's prettiest and truest racers- an F40 (the F40s were actually raced from 1990-1997 at events like Le Mans) and a 333 SP prototype (raced successfully from 1994-2002- the longest period ever for any one design). I will comment further in my next message. Thanks car fans (even the Enzo fans). """

"This car is a design masterpeice. Put simply, it is the fastest, sharpest and most expensive ferrari ever. It may be expensive at 400k+ but it's worth every penny. This is the ultimate tribute to the man who founded the company, the biggest compliment of ""The Great Man"" who still leaves very vivid memories in the minds of those who were lucky enough to meet him. Ferrari have made a fantastic job by using the latest and best modern production techniques to secure the enzo as a classic before it even went on sale. I love the styling, it's not beautiful, neither is it ugly, it's aggressive, mean and distinctive. ""Amazing chassis dynamics"" will be the term to describe the enzo in forthcoming reviews and T.V appearances. It is pure design brilliance blended with awesome performance and mind-blowing handling. I can't wait to see it at brum later this month. I will embrace the moment, knowing that I might not encounter one again. Fantastic, excellent, beautiful, mental, exciting, aggressive. Bring on brum!"""

"The Enzo is low, wide, and simply says ""I am the most sophisticated street legal racer on earth, so don't you mess with me..."" The Murcielago is low, wide, and simply says ""I am the most sophisticated machine of pleasure ever designed, and I will mess with you..."" The Viper is low, wide, and simply says ""I am a Viper, surrender now!"" All these cars have their own charm and are absolutely fantastic. The Ferrari is a perfect balance of design, functionality, and performance. The body shape is absolutely beautiful, the interior design is gorgeous to the last detail, and performance is outrageous to say the least. The Murcielago for clubbing, the Viper for renting the newest DVDs and stuff, and the Enzo for some super interstate chillin'! Great Job Ferrari! """

Cheaper Ferraris may be bought by those who wish to pose and not use the car in the manner in which it was designed. This car is not for those people. With only 349 built and all spoken for already, Ferrari got to choose who would own one of these cars, much in the same manner that Ferrari approved F40 and F50 owners. With all 349 already sold, what logic would make Ferrari stop building them?? What chance of failure do they have when they are all sold before the first one rolls off the assembly line?? Interior not luxurious?? This is NOT a luxury car... Enzo owners would certainly have a 4 door luxury car to tool around in, or be driven around in. What some people fail to see, is that this car is not meant to be a daily driver. This car is very single minded in intent and that is to drive it to a race track, blast around said track, then drive it home. Ferrari are trying to share their F1 knowledge and success with their customers. I doubt any of the 349 owners would be relying on it to get to the shops, everyday to work or picking up kids from school in it. While you could forseeably do these things in an Enzo if you wanted to, someone with the money to buy an Enzo would not have to. They would have a different mindset on how this car is meant to be used. Acceleration figures are a good measuring tool up to a point. Getting 0-60mph figures under 3 seconds takes more engineering than many people here would think. At these levels traction becomes more important than raw horsepower and you are approaching serious drag car levels. This certainly is not a drag car. A 660bhp, RWD, mid-engined car would certainly NOT be easy for someone with little driving skill to punt around a track quickly. However in the hands of a skilled driver who knows how to exploit the charachteristics of such a car it would be an incredibly lethal weapon indeed and you would be putting all of your skills to the test when driving a car as capable as this. Don't believe me? Take the car you own to a race track and see how different track driving is to street driving. Many cars that will whip this around a race track at a fraction of the cost? Well, the price is part of the exclusivity and not a factor when the model has sold out. Beat around a track? Possible. Whip around a track? Define whip please. All of that said I do feel the Enzo is far from perfect, for starters I feel it is a bit heavier than it should be, but I can't see why it should be bagged by people who can only dream of owning anything close to it. Anyway that you look at it, this car has awesome performance regardless of whether other cars are faster or slower. The Enzo was built to appeal to the performance enthusiast and not the poser and I feel that the comments on this page are showing very clearly the difference between the enthusiasts and the posers. Don't like the looks of the car? Fine, it's not the prettiest thing I've seen either. Believe that the looks are the most important thing of a car of this calibre - miss out on what is remarkable about cars like this. The Enzo was built to be the ultimate expression of a car from Ferrari and they have clearly demonstrated what sort of driver they want driving their cars. Performance and handling paramount, appearance important but secondary. Function defining form. Bravo Ferrari!!

of course, ferrari can build a much batter looking car to suit every bodys taste, but they reather build their ideal sport car without any compromise. many people may not like it's look at all, and thinking it's not worth to badge under the name of enzo but at the same time, ferrari are rewritering the formula of aero dynamic design for street legal car. no doubt enzo have most advance aero dynamic package in the road car history, and this will ba a mile stone of road car technology for ferrari. i think the technology and the concept in behind are much important compare to the look of this car. the evolution of automotive design will never stop, weather you like or not, ferrari will keep build their ideal sports car regardless any compromise, and that's what sepreate ferrari from other manufacture.

I think that this car is well named. You can clearly see the design and engine were based on an F1 racer. This is perfectly in sync with Enzo's ideals. The only reason he built production cars was to fund his racing program. In fact, there was a time in the early 60's when Ford was looking to buy a good racing team and offered to buy the entire Ferrari company. They would leave Enzo's winning team in place. But it fell through and Ford was forced to make its own race team, thus the GT40 was born. Imagine this could be the FORD ENZO!!!

"After looking at the ""Enzo"" for the first time, I cant say I loved the body design. With me, I usually either love something or hate it. Maybe the ""Enzo"" will grow on me but my first impression of the car is that the nose is too short and the three distinct air intakes in front just look a bit strange to me, almost like some crazy kit car. If the nose was changed a bit I might like it, but I don't matter, besides that car costs more than my house."""

Any Ferrari is difficult to fault mechanically and the Enzo should be no exception on this department. The looks... very difficult to love. Ferrari seems to be desperately trying to emulate a distinctive look and fails miserably. The front end looks like they grafted an F1 car nose on the bonnet while the 2 huge vents are not original and lacks imagination. The rear looks like a testarossa on steriods. A name like Enzo deserves a better looking piece. Stylewise this is a step backward from the F40/F50.

i think that this Ferarri has a very unique design. in my opinion this car looks absolutely stunning from some angles and odd from others, but the performance should be incredible, but i hate knocking on looks because we are all different but over all i like the design alot, but i enjoy the performance even more.

"Well sorry to say Ferrari, hvae never benn a fan of yours, but now you have done the big thing, this is the most ugly supercar ever released for production. It have no proporsions at all, the design are way out of line and it remind me of a company that think it can design anything and throw it on the market and call it a ""Supercar"". It's about time that Piniinfarina and Ferrari sitt down and say, hey guys we have done wrong and get on the market a real stylish elegant supercar. So my verdict, thumbs down and please drive this junk right to the museum."""

It took me some time to get to love this Ferrari , but now as with her predecessors , im in love . This car looks amazing , and the technical sheet is even more impressive with 650 Hp and an expected top speed of more than 350kmh ! Ferrari is rumored to want this car to beat the Mclaren 0-100 mph time of 7.7 sec ..I hope they will !
