Chassis:
Built new for Juan Manuel Fangio II ahead of the 1992 season, chassis 004 is understood to have been used by the Argentinean throughout the 1992 and 1993 campaigns. Among the numerous victories scored during this period were two outright wins in the Sebring 12 Hours. As a thank you for services rendered, Fangio was presented with 'his' hugely successful machine at the end of the Toyota Eagle program. For many years, it was displayed in the Fangio Museum in Argentinia. In 2014, it was consigned to the Gooding & Co's annual Pebble Beach Auctions where it found a new owner for just over $1 million. During the next two years, it was meticulously rebuilt and readied for historic racing. The work was completed just in time for the 2016 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion where the new owner fittingly starred at the sharp end of the field.
