Chassis:
Originally completed as a P400 Miura, chassis number 3474 was delivered new to an owner in Italy. He crashed the car shortly after taking delivery and returned it to Lamborghini. The damage was severe and the suggested course of action was to salvage what was undamaged from the P400, which included the engine and transplant it, together with the original chassis number into a new Miura P400 S shell. This was not uncommon practice at the time and the car was duly finished in a striking yellow with blue interior. Among the subsequent owners of the car was the famous Schlumpf museum in whose collection it remained from the late 1970s through to the early 1990s. It was sold as the government owned museum decided to focus almost exclusively on French marques. Now with only its fourth known owner and with 43,000 km on the odometer, it has been consigned to the February, 2018 Bonhams Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais auction in Paris.
