2022-11-28: Ferrari and Bugatti supercars headed for RM Miami sale ...
Ferrari F50 Next week, RM Sotheby's will host a sale on Miami Beach. Among the most interesting consignments are supercars from Bugatti and Ferrari. The auction will be headlined by this Ferrari F50. It was originally delivered to Singapore and has only had two owners from new. Ferrari Classiche 'red book' certified, chassis 103274 has covered only 625 miles and has a pre-sale estimate of $5.5 - $6 million. Another Ferrari supercar due to cross the block is this Enzo. This three-owner example has been used more extensively and has been shown regularly at events. Recently certified as well, 133916 should sell for well over $3 million.
Among the supercars quickly gaining value are Bugatti EB 110s and RM Sotheby's have consigned a great EB 110 GT. It was originally sold to Germany and was subsequently added to a Danish collection. It was displayed in a private museum for several years alongside a Bugatti Type 46 and a Veyron. Fully refurbished, the silver EB 110 GT should sell for $1.6 - $1.9 million. For enthusiasts of more contemporary supercars, RM has this Chiron Sport. Delivered new at the start of 2020, it was regularly shown at a variety of events including the New York Auto Show. Offered by its second owner, the Chiron Sport has a $3 - $3.5 million estimate.

BMW 3.0 CSL The 50th anniversary celebrations of BMW Motorsport or 'M' have culminated with the development of a new 3.0 CSL. Inspired by the original M car, the new 3.0 CSL is combines a 552 bhp straight six, lightweight construction, CSL-inspired styling cues and the iconic BMW Motorsport livery. Production of the 3.0 CSL is limited to just 50 examples. Prices have not been released but all 50 have most likely already have sold.
Czech specialist manufacturer Praga announced the all-new Bohema supercar this week. It is built around a carbon-fibre monocoque and is powered by Litchfield modified Nissan GT-R engine. The Czech engineers have also managed to keep the weight under 1,000 kg. Although track oriented, the Bohema is fully road legal. Production is limited to just 89 cars, the first ten of which should be rolling off the line in the second half of 2023.
Radical will celebrate the company's 25th anniversary in great style with the upcoming Project 25. Also slated for production for quarter four of 2023, this is a track-only coupe. It will be powered by twin-turbo V6 engine that has been massaged in-house to produce at least 850 bhp. While the Project 25 was previewed to prospective customers already, only one teaser image has been released. Further details of the car, limited to 25 examples, will be made available early next year.

McLaren MP4-16 Mercedes Later this week, RM Sotheby's will host a dedicated sale in Munich. Among the most striking consignments is this Grand Prix winning McLaren MP4-16 Mercedes. It is the fifth of seven MP4-16s built, which proved to be the second best car to the Michael Schumacher driven Ferrari. Driven to victory in the Austrian Grand Prix by David Coulthard, chassis MP4-16A-05 is offered complete but with a mock-up engine. It nevertheless has a pre-sale estimate of €1,700,000 - 2,000,000.
Due to attract the highest bids is this Ferrari F40, which was sold new to ex-F1 and Indy racer Roberto Moreno. Now offered from a Swiss collector, it actually spent most of its life in German hands. With less than 10,000 km on the odometer, it it should sell for around €2.5 million.
Being held in Munich, it is only fitting that a comprehensive BMW collection is consigned to the sale. It is headed by this BMW 507 Roadster. This Series II model was with the same owner between 1973 and 2013. More recently shown in the current owner's private museum, 70143 will require recommissioning but still has a €1,600,000 - 2,000,000 estimate.

Porsche 911 Dakar At last night's Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche revealed the hotly anticipated 911 Dakar. This fully road-legal 992-generation 911 is also a capable off-roader. Despite the raised suspension and additional off-roading equipment, a comprehensive weight saving effort throughout means that the 911 Dakar is a mere 10 kg heavier than the similarly engined 911 Carrera 4 GTS. Available as a €26,061 option is the striking Paris-Dakar inspired Rally Design Package. In lieu of the tobacco sponsorship, this includes 'Roughroads' lettering on the door and customers have the option to choose a number from 0 - 999.
Later this month, Lamborghini will launch a direct rival for the 911 Dakar in the form of the Huracán Sterrato. Italian for 'gravel', the Sterrato will also feature raised suspension, flared wheel-arches, additional lights and supports for a roof-rack.
Also unveiled at the LA Auto Show was this fabulous Genesis X Convertible Concept. Styled under the supervision of Luc Donckerwolke, it is very much a teaser of what the next range topping model from Hyundai's luxury arm will look like. Before that will be introduced, a third X Concept with fastback styling will debut.

2022 Estoril Classics report and 200-shot gallery Last month, we managed to stretch our summer with one more weekend by attending the Estoril Classics. Hosted by the undulating Circuito Estoril, the event served as the season finale for the Peter Auto series for the third year running. With Covid19 restrictions now fully lifted, it was also the first time for the local fans to fully enjoy the spectacle from both the grandstands and inside the paddock. They were treated to a great selection of sports racers, grand tourers and touring cars from the 1950s through to the 2000s. As an added bonus, there were two 20-minute races for pre-1986 Formula 1 cars. Under beautiful blue skies, the action started on Thursday afternoon and ran non-stop until the final race finished at the end of the afternoon on Sunday. Among the many highlights was the Sixties' Endurance race that ran into the sunset, the Endurance Racing Legends fight between two MG-Lolas and a great comeback drive to victory in Classic Endurance Racing 2. Porsche 962C Group C was introduced as the top sports car racing category 40 years ago this year. Run for about a decade, Group C is highly revered today and the anniversary was celebrated at many occasions. Today we play our small part by highlight four Group C cars that returned to forefront this year.
Porsche was one of the main players in this period and celebrated in style by pulling out several 956s and 962s from the Museum. Among them was this rarely seen 962C, which was raced only at Le Mans in 1990 by the works backed Joest Racing team.
At the Le Mans Classic, we had a full field of Group C cars competing including this Jaguar XJR-9. The final car built in 1988, it was used mainly in sprint events. Following its contemporary racing career, it was retained by TWR for many years but has since made several appearances in historic racing events.
Also in action at Le Mans this year was this early Peugeot 905 Evo 1 Bis. Used predominantly for testing in period, it did race at Le Mans in 1993 after a sister car was crashed in practice. Chassis EV11 finished third that year and is now owned and raced by a Dutch historic racer.
Raced at the Dix Mille Tours this year, this Spice SE90C also has a Dutch connection but then in period. It was raced by Charles Zwolsman and Cor Euser for the Euro Racing Team. It finished fourth twice during the 1990 season against stiff competition. Chassis SE90C-022 is now in French hands.

2022 Chantilly Arts & Elegance report and 220-shot gallery After a three-year hiatus, we were back at the Chateau de Chantilly for the sixth edition of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille. The biennial Concours d'Elegance this year celebrated Touring, Hispano Suiza, DeTomaso and the Le Mans centenary. Further highlights included a class for early Grand Prix cars and one dedicated to 1950s American sports racers. There were a total of 17 classes for classic cars, one for modern cars and several dozen clubs that displayed cars around the vast Chateau de Chantilly. On Saturday, there was a separate, 120 km tour where the entrants could sample the countryside just north of Paris.
Our photographers were on hand throughout the weekend and have captured the event in its entirety. The result is this 220-shot gallery that serves to illustrate our concise report.

2022 Cobble Beach Concours d'Elegance Celebrating the end of summer, our friends Rob Clements and Bryn Gladding attended the annual Cobble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Ontario, Canada. It was the eighth edition of the event hosted by the Cobble Beach Golf Resort and Community. The Concours d'Elegance attracted around 120 cars from Canada and the United States with a lovely Porsche 550 Spyder and mid-engined Corvettes among the highlights. Among with the rest of the stars of the show, they are pictured in our 140-shot gallery, which serves to illustrate our concise report. This week, two new GT4 racers were revealed. First up is the Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo, which as the name suggests is an evolution of the existing Supra GT4. It features refinement based on feedback from customers who raced the Supra during the last couple seasons. The GR Supra GT4 Evo is available as a complete car but the modifications are also available as an upgrade for existing owners. One of its rivals will be the Nissan Z GT4, which was officially unveiled at the SEMA Show. Based on the highly anticipated seventh generation Z, the new GT4 racer features a twin-turbo V6 engines that should be good for around 450 bhp depending on the Balance of Performance. The Z GT4 should hit the tracks around the world in 2023.
